As the Convener of the 6th KIBF (Karachi International Book Fair) 2010, I am delighted to have this great opportunity and congratulate the entire KIBF Managing Committee for their tireless efforts in ensuring continuous success & growth of this phenomenal event. With each passing year, KIBF has grown and progressed against all odds and adversity with the result that this year’s exhibition hosts the most number of International & National Exhibitors.

Of course we (the KIBF Managing Committee) are not the only contributors to the immense success that this event has achieved. KIBF today is regarded as one of the largest exhibition event hosted in Pakistan. The indomitable confidence to grow this exhibition each year has come to us resulting from the tremendous response we have received from the citizens of Karachi. Commendations must also go to Pakistan Publishers & Booksellers Association (PPBA), German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) & The National Book Foundation (Ministry of Education, Govt. of Pakistan) for their invaluable assistance as well as The Pakistan Library Association (PLA) for their promotional support. I am also extremely grateful to our media partners who have provided coverage of KIBF and spread awareness of its happening among the masses.

KIBF aims to promote not just reading habits, but also more importantly initiate our national resurgence in the realms of knowledge, education, and intellect. KIBF has provided the perfect venue for the booksellers, publishers, writers and readers to unite together under one roof and explore the horizons on a global scale.

I wish KIBF continued success and hope to see it expand to even greater and bigger horizons in the future.

Karachi International Book Fair 2010.

In a short period of 5 years Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association’s star event Karachi International Book Fair has become one of the most influential trade events for the book trade in the region. I am grateful to Almighty Allah for giving us the courage and the strength to organize an event of such immense magnitude. KIBF is once again held in three halls at the state of the art Karachi Expo Centre, while our journey started in 2005 with less than 100 exhibitors in only one hall at the Karachi Expo Centre. The activity area this year will be abuzz with non stop book launching, talk shows and children’s activity.

It is the untiring work of the Karachi International Book Fair Managing Committee that has been able to manage and organize this remarkable event.

This year as before Karachi International Book Fair is held in association with National Book foundation, Ministry of education which is the best example of public/ private partnership. Our cooperate partners are China Mobile Zong, the largest telecom company in the world while our media partners are Jang group. The support of these leaders in their respective fields of activities reflects on their vision which includes a literate and prosperous Pakistan.

I would like to emphasize that our event could not have been such a great success without the support of GTZ, German Technical Cooperation. I am also grateful to GTZ for ensuring successful participation of Pakistan Publishers and Book Sellers Association at the Frankfurt book Fair 2009.
